On Wednesday, Sakshi Malik said that the ‘goons’ of former Indian Wrestling Federation president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh are now active. Sakshi, who declared her retirement from professional wrestling following the election of Sanjay Singh, a close aide of Brij Bhushan, as the federation president, claimed that her mother had been receiving menacing phone calls. The government is accountable for our safety,” Sakshi Malik declared at a press conference.

Protest at Jantar Mantar by Junior Wrestlers
A protest against Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat began at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday, in a significant development amidst the WFI dispute. Junior wrestlers from Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh gathered at Jantar Mantar with banners that said: UWW save our wrestling from these 3 wrestlers”. The three wrestlers have been the face of the protest against Brij Bhushan accusing him of sexual harassment.

Reminding everyone that Sanjay Singh became the new WFI Chief on December 21, the former wrestler announced her departure from the sport. She also sarcastically claimed that she had no idea how powerful the former WFI chief is and that Brij Bhushan had organized a wrestling match in his home without consulting the federation’s rules.

She also said that the wrestlers who had been involved in the protest were accused of defrauding the junior wrestling students by Mr Bhushan. Malik also stated that she wished for the junior girls weighing 62 kg to achieve her goals. Additionally, she stated that the Ad-hoc committee has announced the senior nationals and that the dates for the under-15, 17, and 19 should be released shortly as well. She expressed her desire to avoid any losses for the young wrestlers due to them.

It’s the responsibility of the government to ensure our safety.”
