New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted countrymen on Tuesday on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, which is also celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.

“On Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, my greetings to fellow citizens, especially brothers and sisters of the tribal society! Tribal communities have enriched the life of the nation with their arts, crafts and hard work. Their lifestyle offers the world lessons in nurturing nature” President Murmu tweeted.

She said that the Tribal communities made great contributions to the freedom struggle. I bow down to all tribal freedom fighters and unsung heroes.

“Tribal people’s contribution to the nation’s journey since Independence is no less significant. My best wishes for their development and prosperity,” President Murmu said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted the people on the occasion of birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

In a video message, Prime Minister Modi said, “The entire country is celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda with devotion and respect and I respectfully bow before the great son and the great revolutionary of the country on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas”.

“Considered this the fortune of his government that it got the opportunity to declare 15th November as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas” he said.

The Prime Minister added that Birsa Munda ji was not only the hero of our political independence, but he was also the conductor of our spiritual and cultural energy.

November 15 is celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas or Tribal Pride Day to honour tribal freedom fighter, Birsa Munda.

The Central government has declared the day to also commemorate the contribution of tribal communities to the history and culture of the nation.
