President Murmu flies in Sukhoi 30 Fighter jet

Assam: President Draupadi Murmu took off in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet from Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday. She was seen wearing an anti-gravity suit before boarding her maiden fighter jet flight.

Earlier, Murmu received a guard of honour when she reached Tezpur Air Force Station. She is on a tour of Assam from April 6 to 8.

During her visit, President Murmu inaugurated the Gaja Utsav-2023 at Kaziranga National Park on April 7 and later flagged off Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition-2023 in Guwahati. After this, Murmu will also attend the function organized on the occasion of the completion of 75 years of the Gauhati High Court in Guwahati. 

Former President Pratibha Patil had also flown in this state-of-the-art fighter aircraft in 2009.

Before Murmu, former President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam had flown to Sukhoi in 2009 and 2006 respectively.
