Prayagraj: A priest of Ramjanaki temple was brutally murdered in Anapur of Nawabganj police station area. Miscreants stuffed a cloth in his mouth, his hands and legs were tied with cloth and his body was thrown in the field near the temple.
As soon as information was broke out, the police reached the spot. After the murder, micreants broke the locks of the temple and idols were also thrown out in the field. The police sent the body for autopsy. Apparently no injury marks are visible on the body. The police expected that the man was suffocated to death.
The deceased priest who was specially able was serving in the temple for almost two decades. He used to look after the worship and temple and was a resident of Siwan in Bihar.
On Monday, his body was found in a field near the temple as his hands and feet were tied with a long garment, while a piece of cloth was also stuffed in his mouth.
Villagers saw the horrifying visual when they were going towards the temple in the morning and immidiately informed the police. After some time, all the officers of the police department reached with the force. The forensic team also arrived and collected evidence. The dog squad team arrived and investigated.
The police has also received information that the priest was having a family dispute in his native village Siwan, Bihar. The police has suspected that the cause of the murder could be the rivalry. The police is probing the matter through all possible angles.
ACP Shailendra Kumar said that the incident will be revealed soon. Futher details are awaited in the case.
