A Karnataka court has remanded suspended Janata Dal (Secular) leader Prajwal Revanna to judicial custody until June 24 in relation to rape and molestation allegations. A Special Investigation Team (SIT), investigating the case, did not request additional custody as it completed a spot inquest on Monday morning.

In April, Prajwal left the country for Germany when the sex tapes case surfaced. Lookout notices were issued against him at all international immigration points. He returned to Bengaluru on May 31 and was subsequently arrested by the SIT team. After his arrest, he was in police custody until June 6.

As soon as he landed on May 31, a team of all-women cops, led by a woman IPS officer, was sent by the Karnataka SIT to arrest the former JD(S) MP. Prajwal was arrested by a team of five women police officers, in what appeared to be a symbolic message.
On Friday, Bhavani Revanna, mother of Prajwal Revanna and accused of kidnapping a woman allegedly sexually assaulted by her son, was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court. She later appeared before investigating officials and was questioned in connection with the case.
