Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, approximately 1,800 homes in Sardarpur district have installed solar power systems. District Magistrate Anupam Shukla stated that the project will help households reduce their electricity bills while advancing clean energy solutions.
DM Shukla also announced a new target of installations of solar units in 11,000 homes at a one-day workshop held at the Mahamaya Government Medical College auditorium. The target completion will depend on district officials’ and vendors’ success in creating awareness and implementation.
Attendees of the workshop included Chief Development Officer Anand Shukla, DIOS and BSA Praveen Tiwari, UPNEDA Project Officer, teachers, department officials, and vendors. MA final-year student Sakshi Vishwakarma attended as a special guest “District Magistrate for a Day”.
The workshop centered on outlining the scheme’s aims, technical information and financial support available to beneficiaries. There were also presentations by experts on explaining how solar systems function, their advantages and the installation processes. There were even questions asked by teachers and other participants along the way.
The DM encouraged vendors to organise more awareness camps at banks, power stations/substations, markets and other crowded public places to be sure that the people know about the scheme. The DM also said that the Surya Ghar Yojana will lead to energy self-reliance and offer families relief from reduced bills.
