Mallikarjun Kharge remark on Modi: Amid the Opposition’s demand for debate over Manipur violence, Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday. The remark of Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge once again drew flak.
Kharge requested the chair to conduct a debate on Manipur violence under Rule 167 and sought the presence of Prime Minister Modi. The ruling ministers did not agree to the demand and Kharge slammed them.
He said, “Pradhan Mantri ke aane se kya hone wala hai, kya parmatma hai woh? Yeh koi bhagwan nahi hai (What will happen if PM Modi comes, is he God? He is not God).”

Rajya Sabha Chairman adjourned the House till 2 pm amid the ruckus.
It is informed that the Rajya Sabha saw a regular ruckus over the Manipur issue and the mud sledging is continued in the House over the Manipur Situation.
The chairman denied holding the debate over Manipur violence under Rule 267.
He further sought the opinion of Kharge and the Leader of the House Piyush Goyal. It is noted that The House has witnessed a stalemate over the Manipur issue. The government has informed us that it is willing to hold a debate over the Manipur issue at the right time.
