Gujarat University officials have sent formal notifications to seven Afghan students, asking them to leave their hostel accommodations. As per officials, five of these students have already followed the instructions and vacated their rooms.
After a recent dispute where Afghan students clashed with a local group over praying openly within the hostel area, Gujarat University has taken action by instructing seven Afghan students to vacate their hostel rooms. Subsequently, representatives from the Afghan consulate visited the university following the intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
A senior official from Gujarat University clarified that these students either have completed their courses or have pending administrative tasks such as obtaining transcripts or certificates that do not necessitate their presence on campus. University regulations dictate that students cannot utilize hostel facilities once their studies are completed. All seven students fall under this category. Four of them have completed their courses, while three have only administrative tasks left.
