New Delhi: Kashmiri Pandits are protesting outside the BJP office in Jammu. They are on dharna outside the BJP office in Jammu. They are demanding immediate release of their salaries ahead of ‘Maha Shivratri’ festival. Over 50 migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees have been detained in Jammu on February 15 following their protest. The protesters have been requesting to be shifted to Jammu for 285 days, claiming that no security has been provided for them in the Valley so far.
Police detained the protesters
When they were not given the right to protest outside the Press Club, the migrant laborers gathered at the square in the area and started raising slogans. The police then detained around 50 protesters and took them in a bus to the police line. Asked whether prohibitory orders were imposed outside the Press Club, the site of protests from time to time, the official replied that the ongoing protests in the area have turned into public nuisance.
“There is no restriction on peaceful protest of half an hour or one hour, but they are occupying the place for hours till midnight, causing inconvenience to the commuters and trouble to the administration and police,” he said.

‘On peaceful protests since 285 days’
Rahul Pandit, a protester outside the Press Club, criticized the government for invoking Section 144 of the CrPC and said they were “on a peaceful protest for the last 290 days but never obstructed traffic or caused trouble to anyone.”
