In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, a 25-year-old woman and her lover were arrested for allegedly poisoning and strangling her husband with a rope. The woman and her lover then staged the murder to look like a suicide.
This incident comes after two sensational incidents that recently occurred in Meerut where women murdered their husbands with the involvement of their lovers and attempted to cover it up.
Officials stated that Rekha, the suspect in question, mixed rat poison in a cup of tea, and gave it to her husband, Kehar Singh, on Sunday. She later called her lover, Pintu, to her residence.
Both Rekha and Pintu strangled Singh with a rope and then hung him to make it look like a suicide. The two had planned to live together, prompting them to commit the act.
The next morning, Singh’s body was found hanging in his rented room with the door’s latch on the interior
Officials say it was suspected the incident was a suicide, however, a post mortem report stated he died from strangulation.
“The post-mortem report clearly indicates death by strangulation, though the closed room suggested a suicide. We are investigating all possible angles,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Chandra Mishra. The couple was taken to jail after the medical examination on Friday.
A murder case has been filed against Rekha and Pintu based on a complaint Ashok, the brother of the deceased, made at the Fatehganj Paschimi police station.
In his complaint Ashok stated his brother had learned of his wife’s relationship with Pintu and the two plotted and conspired to murder him.
“They first gave him poison. When he became unconscious, they strangled him with a rope and then used the same rope to hang his body from the ceiling to make it look like suicide,” the FIR stated.
In another chilling incident from Uttar Pradesh, a woman and her lover allegedly killed her husband and placed a snake near the body in an attempt to mislead investigators in Meerut.
The murder also comes on the heels of another gruesome case in which Saurabh Shukla was killed by his wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her lover. The pair went on to dismember his body and seal the remains inside a cement-filled drum.
