Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Adityanath’s recent decision to expand the pod taxi route has sparked significant excitement as it paves the way for efficient and futuristic transportation in the region.
Originally planned to run from Noida International Airport to Film City, the pod taxis will now connect Jewar Airport to Pari Chowk, highlighting the state government’s commitment to modernizing transportation infrastructure.
The decision was announced following a high-level meeting in Lucknow, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need to harness cutting-edge technology for the benefit of the public.
The Chief Executive Officer of Yamuna Authority, Dr. Arunveer Singh, shared this news, adding that the Yamuna Development Authority had already issued a Global Tender for the pod taxi project. Companies have until August 10 to apply, and the bid opening is scheduled for August 16.

The announcement has elicited a tremendous response from both Indian and international companies, with 11 prominent players expressing their keen interest in contributing to this ambitious project.
Some of the notable companies that have applied include PRT UK, L&T, Systa France, Alta PRT, Siemens, Tata, IRB Infrastructure, Intamin Transportation, Hyundai Kalpataru, and Invest India Company. This overwhelming interest reflects the immense potential and impact of this innovative transportation system.
The pod taxi project aims to revolutionize public transportation, offering a comfortable, efficient, and environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional modes of travel. The futuristic pods will glide along elevated tracks, avoiding traffic congestion and reducing the burden on existing road infrastructure.

Initially estimated at Rs 641 crore for the original route from Noida International Airport to Film City, the cost is expected to increase due to the extension of the route to connect Jewar Airport.
To provide a comprehensive evaluation, the Uttar Pradesh government has instructed the Yamuna Authority to prepare a detailed report on the updated route length and cost, which will be reviewed in Lucknow.
With the extension of the route, the pod taxis are set to cover a longer distance, creating new possibilities for seamless connectivity between key locations. This development aligns with the government’s vision to enhance accessibility and ease transportation challenges in the region.
