New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Delhi’s largest tribal festival “Aadi Mahotsav” on Thursday at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in the national capital. He presented flowers to tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
While addressing the event, PM Narendra Modi said, “I was delighted to see different arts, artefacts, music, and cultural display through their products. I feel India’s diversity and its grandness have come together and are standing tall today, highlighting its tradition.”

Events like Aadi Mahotsav
Stressing upon the importance of the event, he said, “During the last 8-9 years, events like ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ have become a movement for the country. I too take part in several events; I do it because the welfare of the tribal society is personal as well as an emotional subject for me.”

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs’ Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) organises the Aadi Mahotsav every year to honour the spirit of tribal culture, crafts, gastronomy, trade, and traditional art.
The event will highlight the rich and varied legacies of tribes from all around the nation with more than 200 stalls. There will be over 1,000 indigenous craftspeople present.

Along with with the traditional attractions like handicrafts, handlooms, pottery, and jewelry, special attention will be placed on presenting “Shree Anna,” a recent government nomenclature for millets farmed by tribal people, as 2023 is being observed as the International Year of Millets.
Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana
PM Narendra Modi also mentioned the PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana, which was announced during the 2023-24 budget.
The Yojana will provide financial assistance, skill training, and marketing support to the tribal community and foster employment opportunities.

After learning about the tribal society’s customs, PM said, “When diversities are woven into a thread of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, India’s grandness emerges before the world. This Aadi Mahotsav signifies this spirit.”
He added, “New India of the 21st century is working on the philosophy of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. The government is making efforts to reach out to the people who have been unreached for a long time.”
