New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on October 19-20 where he will dedicate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 15,670 crore.
On the first day of his visit, Prime Minister will launch the Mission Schools of Excellence at Adalaj and lay the foundation stone of various development projects in Junagadh and Rajkot.
On October 20, he wil launch Mission LiFE at Kevadia. Thereafter, he will lay the foundation stone of various development initiatives at Vyara.
Earlier this month, the Narendra Modi-led central government had announced an extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) till December for seventh time. The Union government had claimed that the decicion was taken to avoid hardships on ‘vulnerable sections of the society’ during festive season.
In an official press release, the Centre said, “… to ensure that poor and needy of the country do not face any hardship during the forthcoming festival season and to keep them immune from the adverse forces of the market.”

As per the schedule, the food scheme was supposed to end by September but it was extended. However, it invited a series of questions doubting the intensions. It is believed that the move is an attempt to lure votes in Gujarat which is schedule to go for Assembly elections by the end of this year.
