Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sister, Basanti Ben, embarked on a spiritual journey to the Neelkanth temple in Pauri, near Rishikesh, accompanied by her husband Hasmukh and other family members. The auspicious occasion coincided with the holy month of Sawan, drawing devotees of Lord Shiva from various states across India.

After offering prayers at the revered Neelkanth temple, Basanti Ben proceeded to the Parvati temple located in the quaint village of Ben Kothar. It was at this serene temple premises that an unexpected and heartwarming meeting took place – she encountered Shashi Devi, the sister of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The simplicity and humility exhibited by the families of both Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have long been admired. Yogi Adityanath, born as Ajay Singh Bisht on June 5, 1972, hails from Panchur village in the picturesque district of Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. He is the second among four brothers and three sisters. At the tender age of 21, Yogi Adityanath left his family to embark on a spiritual journey to Gorakhpur. Following his retirement from a monastic life, he adopted the name Yogi Adityanath.

Despite the political prominence and responsibilities they hold, both PM Modi and CM Yogi remain deeply connected to their roots and cherish their humble beginnings. The simplicity and groundedness of their families exemplify their dedication to public service and their values.

Notably, CM Yogi Adityanath visited his native village Panchur last year, an emotional visit marked by seeking blessings from his mother and interacting with the villagers who expressed immense pride in their native son’s achievements. During this visit, CM Yogi’s sister, Shashi, shared her happiness, noting that many well-wishers and visitors came to meet him and seek his blessings.

The chance meeting of the two sisters during their respective pilgrimages underscores the significance of family ties and the special moments that arise even in the public lives of prominent figures. The encounter not only resonated with the sentiment of kinship but also exemplified the ethos of togetherness and shared values in Indian culture.

As the pilgrimage continues, the meeting between the two sisters serves as a beautiful reminder of the enduring bond that family holds, transcending any distance or public spotlight.
