Uttar Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh today, where he flags off Vande Bharat Express Trains from Gorakhpur railway station. Apart from this, lay the foundation stone for eight projects worth around ₹7,600 crore. PM Modi was welcomed by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath upon his arrival in Gorakhpur to attend the closing ceremony of the Gita Press centenary celebrations and to light off Vande Bharat trains.

PM Modi's visit

Firstly, he flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains from Jodhpur to Ahmedabad: the Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express and the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express. With this, he launched the Rs 498 crore Gorakhpur railway station development project. PM Modi said, "Vande Bharat train has given a new flight to the middle class of the country with facilities and amenities. Today, leaders from every corner of the country are writing letters to me asking that Vande Bharat be run from our region as well."

Centenary celebrations of Geeta Press

PM Modi has reached Gorakhpur to attend the closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations of Geeta Press. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that our government has honoured Gita Press with the Gandhi Peace Prize. Gandhi had an emotional attachment to the Gita Press. At one time, Gandhiji used to write for Geeta Press through Kalyan Patrika. I was told that it was Gandhiji who suggested that advertisements not be published in the Kalyan Patrika. Kalyan Patrika is still following Gandhiji's suggestion 100 percent. He added, "100 years ago, the colonial forces exploited India. Our Gurukuls were destroyed. When our printing press was not able to reach every citizen due to its high cost, Gita Press became the guiding force. We are all blessed to witness this organisation's centenary celebrations." He further claimed that people were stunned from the minute he uploaded images of Gorakhpur Railway Station on social media. They never dreamed a railway station could be built in this manner.
