Odisha Train accident: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday will visit Odisha in the wake of tragic train accident in which 238 people have lost their lives, according to sources.
According to the sources, The PM will take stock of the situation at the accident site in Balasore and then go to the hospital in Cuttack to meet the injured people and their families. He has also convened a meeting to review the situation regarding the train accident.
Three-way accident
The Odisha train accident is one the most tragic accident that claimed 238 lives. It was the three-way accident involved Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Coromandel Express and the goods train on three separate tracks at Bahanaga Bazar Station in Balasore district.
Nearly 17 coaches of the passenger trains were de-railed and many damaged in the accident that took place on Friday evening.
Investigation Report
As per the preliminary investigation by the State Emergency Operation Center, around 900 people are injured.
Massive rescue operation is underway which includes 7 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Teams, 5 Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) Units and 24 Fire Services and Emergency Units.
Odisha Train accident: Rescue operation
The Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed Mi-17 helicopters for the evacuation of the deceased and injured.
According to the Eastern Command, IAF is coordinating the rescue efforts with the civil administration and Indian Railways.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also visited the accident site to take stock of the situation.
