PM Modi Takes Swipe at Mahagathbandhan, Says ‘People of Bihar call them Lathbandhan’

PM Narendra Modi’s remarks came on the same day the Mahagathbandhan announced its chief ministerial and Deputy CM candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a dig at the Grand Alliance in Bihar, referring to them as the “Lathbandhan” instead of “Gathbandhan.” His remark came while interacting with BJP workers from poll-bound Bihar through the 'Mera Booth Sabse Majboot' programme. PM Modi highlighted Bihar’s growth under NDA government and cited youth’s call for ‘Phir Se NDA Sarkar’ in the state.

PM Modi Takes Swipe at Mahagathbandhan

PM Modi said the alliance only knows how to wield the stick and indulge in fighting, putting their own interests above those of the people. He accused them of neglecting Bihar’s youth and alleged that Naxalism and Maoist terror, which once gripped the state, flourished under their watch. He also called out “jungle raj" during RJD’s tenure and alleged that elections in the past had been won "wih the help of Maoist terror".

"Those who call themselves the 'Gathbandhan,' whom the people of Bihar call the 'Lathbandhan,' only know how to use the lathi and keep fighting. For the 'Lathbandhan,' their own self-interest is paramount. They don't care about the youth of Bihar. For decades, the youth of the country and Bihar suffered from Naxalism and Maoist terror. They even kept winning elections with the help of Maoist terror. Naxalism and Maoist terror played a huge role in the destruction of Bihar,” PM Modi said.

'Raftaar pakad chuka Bihar, Phir se NDA Sarkar,' Says PM Modi

PM Modi further asserted that the youths of Bihar want NDA government and are raising, “Raftaar pakad chuka Bihar, Phir se NDA Sarkar” slogans. “When there’s stability, development accelerates. This is the strength of Bihar’s NDA government, and that’s why every young person in Bihar is enthusiastically saying, “Raftaar pakad chuka Bihar, Phir se NDA Sarkar,” PM Modi added.

He stressed that a new era of women's empowerment will begin in Bihar once the NDA comes into power again. “They imprisoned Bihar’s daughters within four walls. Therefore, it is crucial to keep them away from power. Over 12 million sisters have received 10,000 rupees in each bank account to start their own businesses. At every booth, compile a list of women who have not yet received the benefits of the CM Rojgar Yojana. Sit with them. Assure them that once the government is formed again on November 14th, their names will be added to the list of beneficiaries. After coming to power on November 14th, a new era of women’s empowerment will begin in Bihar,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi’s remarks came on the same day the Mahagathbandhan announced its chief ministerial and Deputy CM face for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Elections for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes set for November 14.
