PM Modi Speech Highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called the upcoming Goods and Services Tax (GST) changes a “new generation reform” and said it will give a significant boost to India’s economy and benefit the middle class, youth and consumers across the country. Addressing the nation at 5 pm, the Prime Minister said the new GST rates, which will come into effect from Monday, September 22, are not just a tax reduction but a “GST Bachat Mahotsav” (saving festival) that will bring down prices of daily essential commodities and boost consumer-led growth.

During the address, Prime Minister Modi mentioned, “From tomorrow, the festival of Navratri is starting. I extend my best wishes to you. From the first day of Navratri, the country is taking an important step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Tomorrow, on the first day of Navratri, Next-Generation GST reforms will come into effect with sunrise.”
