PM Modi Welcomes First Phase Of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan
Hours after US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Israel and Hamas had “signed off on the first phase of our Peace Plan,” India welcomed the development and praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his strong leadership. PM Modi said he hoped the peace deal would pave the way for lasting peace in the war-torn Gaza Strip.
“We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan. This is also a reflection of the strong leadership of PM Netanyahu. We hope the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will bring respite to them and pave the way for lasting peace,” PM Modi wrote on X.
Gaza Ceasefire To Begin Within 24 Hours Of Israeli Cabinet Approval
In a significant development, Israeli Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian on Thursday announced that the Gaza ceasefire will begin within 24 hours of cabinet approval. She said that US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a phone call following the announcement of the Gaza peace agreement. “It was a very emotional and warm conversation as both leaders congratulated each other on this historic achievement,” she said.
During the media briefing, she stated that a ceasefire will commence within 24 hours after the Israeli cabinet meeting to be held today at 8.30 pm. The Israeli spokesperson mentioned that it depends on those at the table agreeing to the terms of phase one, which was approved in Egypt earlier in the day.
