On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Team India to congratulate them on their seven-run victory over South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup final in Barbados.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister praised Rohit Sharma for his exceptional captaincy and commended his T20I career.
PM Modi specially acknowledged Virat Kohli for his invaluable 76 runs and immense contributions to Indian cricket. He also expressed gratitude to Rahul Dravid, who stepped down as head coach after India’s victory, for his significant contributions to the sport.
The Prime Minister praised Hardik Pandya for his last-over heroics and Suryakumar Yadav for his game-changing catch dismissing South African batter David Miller.
He also praised Jasprit Bumrah for his significant contributions to the T20 World Cup and Indian cricket.
On Saturday, PM Modi released a video message congratulating the ‘Men in Blue’ for their victory over South Africa in the thrilling T20 World Cup final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
‘CHAMPIONS! Our team clinches the T20 World Cup in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian cricket team. This historic match is unforgettable,’ he tweeted, accompanied by a congratulatory video message for Team India .

This marked India’s second T20 World Cup victory in 17 years since their 2007 triumph. It also ended an 11-year drought for major ICC titles, the last being the 2013 Champions Trophy.
