PM Modi Reviews Bullet Train Station in Surat, Launches Major Development Projects in Gujarat

PM Modi reviewed the under-construction bullet train station in Surat during his Gujarat visit and launched Rs 9,700 crore development projects across the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the under-construction bullet train station in Surat to review the progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) on Saturday.

The project, India’s first bullet train corridor, is one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure initiatives.

The Prime Minister arrived at Surat airport in the morning and travelled to the Antroli area, where the bullet train station is being built. He interacted with engineers and project officials and took stock of the ongoing construction work.

MAHSR: India’s First Bullet Train Station in Surat

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor spans approximately 508 km, including:

  • 352 km in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli
  • 156 km in Maharashtra
  • The corridor will connect major cities such as Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi, Boisar, Thane, and Mumbai.

Once completed, the bullet train is expected to cut travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to nearly two hours, giving a major boost to business, tourism, and regional economic growth.

PM Modi’s Day-Long Visit to Gujarat

After reviewing the bullet train project in Surat, PM Modi travelled to Devmogra village in Sagbara taluka, around 23 km from Dediapada town in Narmada district.

He offered prayers at the Pandori Mata temple, a revered shrine for the tribal community.

The Prime Minister also participated in events marking the birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda, paying tribute to his contributions to India’s freedom struggle. In a message on X, PM Modi said Birsa Munda’s sacrifices “will continue to inspire every generation.”

During his visit to Dediapada, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development and infrastructure projects worth over ₹9,700 crore. These projects aim to improve connectivity, support tribal development, and promote economic opportunities in the region.
