PM Modi in Poll-bound Bihar today: Purnea airport, Makhana Board on agenda

The Prime Minister will also take part in Griha Pravesh ceremonies for over 40,000 PMAY beneficiaries and distribute ₹500 crore to women’s self-help groups under DAY-NRLM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar’s Purnea district on Monday to address a rally and launch development projects worth ₹36,000 crore. During his visit, he will inaugurate a new airport terminal in north Bihar, fulfilling the region’s long-pending demand for air connectivity. Another key highlight will be the launch of the National Makhana Board, announced in the Union Budget 2025, which aims to boost production, adopt new technology, improve processing and exports, and benefit Makhana farmers in Bihar and across India.

The Prime Minister will also take part in Griha Pravesh ceremonies for over 40,000 PMAY beneficiaries and distribute ₹500 crore to women’s self-help groups under DAY-NRLM. Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place, with vehicle movement on national and state highways suspended for 24 hours starting midnight Sunday.

PM Modi’s Program

PM Modi will begin his day in Kolkata by inaugurating the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference 2025 at around 9:30 a.m. The three-day conference, running from September 15 to 17, is the highest-level meeting of India’s Armed Forces along with top civilian leadership.
This year’s theme, ‘Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future’, underscores the government’s focus on long-term transformation and modernisation of India’s military capabilities.

After Bengal, PM Modi will visit Bihar’s Purnia. There he will inaugurate the new Interim Terminal Building of the New Civil Enclave at Purnea Airport. This terminal is set to significantly enhance regional air connectivity and passenger handling capacity in northeastern Bihar.

In a major boost to regional development, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth approximately Rs 36,000 crore. Among these is Bihar’s largest private-sector investment, the 3×800 MW Thermal Power Project at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur, valued at Rs 25,000 crore. Designed with ultra-super critical, low-emission technology, the power project is expected to significantly strengthen Bihar’s energy security.
