New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a high-level meeting to review public health arrangements amid the rise in coronavirus cases. A high-level meeting took place at 4.30 pm. 

According to data shared by the Union health ministry, India has reported 1,134 new cases of coronavirus today, taking the number of active cases to 7,026.

As 5 more death reported, the death toll from Covid rose to 5,30,813. One death each has been reported from Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra, while one death has also been recorded in Kerala.

Earlier, the Central Government had recently written a letter to six states – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka pertaining to the increase in the cases of coronavirus. 

In a letter written by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, it was mentioned that a large number of cases of corona are being reported in some states of the country. This indicates that there is a local spread of coronavirus.

He asked these states to monitor the situation. Health Secretary was also advised to take the necessary steps for effective management immediately.
