Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended heartfelt greetings to the countrymen as the nine-day festival of Navratri began on September 22. He called the day special, highlighting that on the first day of Navratri, Goddess Shailputri is worshipped. PM Modi expressed his wishes for everyone’s good fortune and good health. Dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine powerful forms, Navratri is more than just a religious festival in India.
“Today, during Navratri, is the special day for the worship and rituals of Mother Shailputri. My wish is that, with the Mother’s affection and blessings, everyone’s life may be filled with good fortune and good health,” PM Modi wrote on X.

In another post on X, PM Modi hailed the GST reforms as “GST Bachat Utsav” which goes on effect from today. He has called on the citizens to come together for the fulfilment of resolution of a developed and self-reliant India. “This time, this auspicious occasion of Navratri is very special. Along with the GST Bachat Utsav, the mantra of Swadeshi is going to receive new energy during this period. Let us come together in collective efforts for the fulfilment of the resolve for a developed and self-reliant India,” PM Modi added.

Earlier on Sunday, PM Modi in his address to the nation, had extended his best wishes to everyone ahead of the Navratri. Emphasising the significance of the occasion, he noted that the country will also take a major step toward building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat from the very first day of the festival. He announced that with the sunrise on the first day of Navratri, the Next-Generation GST reforms will come into effect, marking a new chapter in India’s economic transformation.

From the first day of Navratri, the country is taking an important step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Tomorrow, on the first day of Navratri, Next-Generation GST reforms will come into effect with sunrise.”
