Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his 45-hour meditation session at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu. On Tuesday, May 28, he announced his plans to visit and meditate at the memorial in Kanyakumari from May 30 to June 1.
Why Vivekananda Rock Memorial?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose to meditate at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu to symbolize his efforts in campaigning for the BJP in south India ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Election results. After finishing his election campaign, he arrived at the memorial in Kanyakumari on Thursday (May 30) and meditated continuously in the Dhyan Mandapam until today (June 1). This location holds significance as it is the same spot where Swami Vivekananda once meditated.
For many months, PM Modi has actively promoted Tamil culture and language in his campaign speeches for the Lok Sabha elections.
As part of his southern outreach program, PM Modi visited several temples in Tamil Nadu, including the Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, and the Kothandaramaswamy Temple, ahead of the April 19 elections.
Importance Of Kanyakumari Vivekananda Rock Memorial
The Kanyakumari Vivekananda Rock Memorial is thought to have significantly influenced Swami Vivekananda’s life. Similar to how Sarnath is pivotal in Gautam Buddha’s life, this rock holds special importance for Vivekananda. After traveling across the country, he arrived at this rock, meditated for three days, and gained a vision for a developed India.
This spot’s uniqueness lies in being the only place where India’s Eastern and Western coastlines converge and where the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea meet. By visiting Kanyakumari, PM Modi is symbolizing national unity.
