Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that India will host the next AI summit. The statement of PM came during his concluding address at the AI Action Summit, which he co- chaired with French President Emmanuel Macron. PM Modi emphasized that today’s discussions showed a shared vision and common purpose among all stakeholders. “To build on the momentum of this Action Summit, India would be happy to host the next Summit,” stated PM Modi.

Sharing his experience on attending AI summit, PM Modi wrote on X, “The AI Action Summit in Paris is a commendable effort to bring together world leaders, policy makers, thinkers, innovators and youngsters to have meaningful conversations around AI.”

India To Host Next AI Summit
Briefing the media, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), S. Krishnan said, “The next AI summit will be hosted in India later this year”
He further said, “The emphasis has been on innovation-driven AI…India’s policy position on AI has been on the possibility of innovation and the possibility that it offers greater productivity and opportunity while being cognisant of possible harms and what can be done to mitigate them…The emphasis on India has not been on the regulation of AI and this point was broadly appreciated by a number of world and technology leaders present here today.”
S. Krishnan further highlighted the outcome of the AI summit. He said, “India has endorsed the leaders’ statement on inclusive and sustainable AI and given a commitment to AI for the public interest which were the two major outcomes of this summit…India has supported the establishment of the AI foundation…India has also joined the coalition on sustainable AI ensuring AI’s alignment with environmental and sustainable development goals…”
