What is PM Kusum Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM Kusum) Yojana is a Modi government initiative, which aims to provide solar pumps and solar power generation systems to farmers so that their dependency on diesel and grid electricity is reduced, while promoting sustainable agriculture. Also, the scheme’s objective is to increase the income of farmers, who can earn more by selling surplus solar power to the grid.
Fake Letter Scam
The fake approval letters are being sent out by fraudsters, who allege them to be from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and seek a registration fee of Rs 8,000 from beneficiaries. The letters look official as they often have formal language and government logos.
