Over 50 per cent of India’s population depends on agriculture for their livelihood, but many farmers struggle to earn a significant profit from farming. To support such farmers, the Indian government launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in 2019, aimed at providing financial assistance. More than 130 million farmers have benefited from this scheme so far.
Under this initiative, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually, which is paid in three installments of ₹2,000 each. The funds are transferred directly to the farmers’ bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. As of now, 18 installments have been released under the scheme, and millions of farmers are eagerly awaiting the 19th installment. However, some farmers may not receive the next installment due to certain requirements.
The 18th installment was sent out in October, and typically, the government releases these installments every four months. Based on this schedule, the 19th installment is expected to arrive in February. However, a significant issue may arise for farmers who have not completed their e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification process. The government has already issued a notification stating that e-KYC is mandatory for receiving the upcoming installment.
Farmers who have not yet completed the e-KYC process may find their next installment delayed. Therefore, it is crucial for those who haven’t completed this procedure to do so as soon as possible to avoid any disruptions in receiving the next payment. If you haven’t completed your e-KYC yet, make sure to complete it to ensure timely receipt of your next installment under the scheme.
What Is E-KYC And Why Is It Important?
E-KYC is an online process through which the identity of beneficiaries is verified electronically. This helps the government ensure that the benefits are being given to the right individuals. The e-KYC process also ensures that the funds are being transferred securely to the correct bank accounts.
If a farmer has not completed the e-KYC process, they may not receive future installments of the PM-KISAN scheme. The deadline for completing the e-KYC process was set by the government to ensure that only eligible and verified farmers benefit from the scheme.
How to Complete e-KYC for PM-KISAN Scheme
Farmers can complete their e-KYC online through the official PM-KISAN portal or by visiting the nearest Common Service Center (CSC). Here is the process to follow:
Visit the PM-KISAN Portal: Go to the official website pmkisan.gov.in.
Log In to Your Account: Use your Aadhaar number or your PM-KISAN registration details to log in.
Complete e-KYC: Follow the instructions on the website to complete the e-KYC process.
Visit CSC if Needed: If farmers are unable to complete e-KYC online, they can visit a nearby Common Service Center (CSC) for assistance.
The e-KYC process requires basic identity verification using Aadhaar-linked details, which makes it simple and quick. Once completed, the system will automatically update your details, allowing you to receive future installments of the scheme.
