Goa tourism: In order to curb fraud in online booking for hotels, The tourism minister of Goa has introduced the TIME software which checks and tracks all the data of the inflow of tourists from the hotels. Recently, a heated discussion over Goa’s main economy tourism took place.
The TIME software will check all data from the hotels which will be able to track time spent by them in Goa, their nationality and other important details.
According to the sources, the tourism department has issued a notice to KPMG asking for the documents for their reports on tourism.
Meanwhile, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa has raised the issue of online fraud in booking hotels. He also demanded that this needed to be sorted out and proper action should be taken by the department.
At the same time, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai highlighted the issue of loss of revenue due to multiple units in one gated community. He questioned the need for a mechanism to be established to monitor revenue loss.
Meanwhile, Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khante said that hotels and travel agents empanelled with them have to register with the tourism department. Five OTAs have registered and others who have not registered have to face actions.
He added that if 188 hotels in the north and 113 hotels in South Goa have failed to get registered with the tourism department even after the notice, then they have to face disconnection of water and electricity supply connections.
