Fake posts are widespread these days, and among them are several misleading infographics related to the India-Pakistan conflict. Social media users have widely circulated one such graphic, falsely attributing statistics on drone losses, soldier casualties, civilian deaths, and airbase damages. The infographic, which compares figures for India and Pakistan, even features the logo of international news outlet CNN, attempting to lend it credibility. However, the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has confirmed through its fact-checking arm that the infographic is entirely fake.
The graphic listed exaggerated figures of Indian losses, such as 6 jet losses, 553 drone losses, and 11 airbases affected, compared to minimal Pakistani casualties. Prominently stamped “FAKE” by PIB Fact Check, the infographic falsely asserted that the losses were acknowledged by Indian sources and even went so far as to credit former U.S. President Donald Trump for “curbing India’s losses.”
What PIB Says
The data falsely claims to compare India and Pakistan’s losses in a military conflict and misuses the logo of the international news channel CNN. However, according to PIB, CNN has never published any such story or infographic. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has confirmed that the graphic is fabricated and urged the public not to fall for such misleading content circulating on social media.
The infographics also have a caption saying- Trump Helps Curb India’s Losses
What The Indian Armed Forces Said
In a major development amid the India-Pakistan ceasefire, the Indian armed forces held a joint press conference. They detailed the sequence of events from the launch of Operation Sindoor to the war-like situation that unfolded after India avenged the Pahalgam terror attack. The three armed forces provided detailed accounts of casualties and highlighted India’s gains during and after Operation Sindoor. The Indian Army said that 35-40 personnel of the Pakistan Army had been killed at the Line of Control between May 7 and May 10.
DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai have also hinted at a war-like situation for the last few days. The Indian Army also displayed before-and-after pictures of terror sites destroyed in Pakistan and PoK. From Downing a few Pakistani planes to the Islamic country’s request for the Ceasefire, here are the key takeaways from the joint media briefing
What Happened On May 7?
Finally, India has retaliated against the terrorist organisations operating from Pakistan. In a bold move, the Indian Air Force carried out airstrikes late Tuesday night, targeting areas inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The strikes hit nine terrorist hideouts across seven cities. According to initial reports, over 100 terrorists have been killed in the operation.
This decisive action comes 15 days after the brutal Pahalgam attack and has been named ‘Operation Sindoor’– a tribute to the women who lost their husbands on April 22 in Pahalgam.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary, Director of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed that India fired 24 missiles. According to sources quoted by news agency ANI, Prime Minister Modi monitored Operation Sindoor throughout the night.
