More Fact-Checks

  • In response to circulating social media posts alleging the presence of drones in certain areas of Jammu & Kashmir, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has issued a clear statement debunking the claims. PIB’s Fact-Check unit said, “This claim is #fake. There is no drone activity in Jammu & Kashmir.”
  • The PIB has refuted the claims circulating on social media about heavy explosions in Udhampur, confirming that these claims are false. PIB said, “The claim is #FALSE. There have been no explosions in #Udhampur. These rumours are being spread to create #panic.”
  • The Fact-Check Unit of the PIB has debunked Pakistan’s recent blatant lie presented during its military briefing on Sunday. In its media briefing, the DG ISPR of Pakistan, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, used a small part of a full video clip of Aaj Tak News Channel to claim that an Indian airfield had been destroyed. PIB stated, “This is an attempt by #Pakistan to mislead its own people by producing doctored footage as evidence. The actual story in the full video shows the news channel was talking about the destruction of a Pakistani airfield by Indian forces.”
  • The PIB has debunked a false claim made by Al Jazeera, which stated that an Indian female pilot was in Pakistan’s custody. This claim was swiftly addressed by the PIB’s fact-checking unit. PIB said, “DG ISPR, Pakistan, in its briefing, has clearly stated that they have no Indian Air Force pilot in custody. India has, since the beginning, stated that no Indian Air Force pilot was captured by Pakistan.”
  • A misleading infographic featuring CNN’s logo has been circulating on social media, claiming to compare losses in India and Pakistan. However, the PIB has debunked this as false and part of a broader propaganda campaign.
