Actor Darshan in jail: In a major crackdown, police seized a variety of contraband items, including 15 mobile phones, one being a Samsung device valued at Rs 1.3 lakh—during a raid on the barracks of Bengaluru Central Prison. Other confiscated items included seven electric stoves, five knives, three mobile chargers, two pen drives, Rs 36,000 in cash, along with cigarettes, beedis, and matchstick boxes. The raid, conducted on Saturday, targeted the barrack where notorious gangster Wilson Garden Naga was being held.
Raid Triggered by Viral Photo of Actor Darshan with Gangster
The raid followed public outrage after a photo of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, accused of murder, surfaced on social media. The viral image showed Darshan relaxing with Naga inside the prison, raising serious concerns about preferential treatment. In response, multiple police officers were suspended, and Darshan, along with other prisoners, was transferred to different prisons.
Search Focused on Naga’s Barrack, Actor Darshan’s Block Exempted
Interestingly, the search operation was confined to the barracks housing Naga, while Block 3, where Darshan was being held, was left out of the raid. The prison is divided into several blocks, each containing multiple barracks and cells. The police operation, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, began around 4:30 pm after assessing the prisoners.
Hidden Contraband Discovered in Power Room and Bathroom Pipes
During the raid, police recovered two electric stoves, Rs 11,800 in cash, two knives, and four mobile phones from the prison’s power control room. Additional hidden items, including 11 mobile phones, three mobile chargers, two earbuds, five electric stoves, Rs 24,300 in cash, three knives, and a pen drive, were found concealed in plastic covers within bathroom pipes.

Darshan Arrested in Brutal Murder Case
Darshan, a well-known figure in the Kannada film industry, was arrested on June 11 in connection with the brutal murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy. The victim, a fan of Darshan’s, allegedly sent inappropriate messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, Darshan’s partner, leading to the deadly confrontation. The murder, described as “brutal and barbaric” by the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals, including Darshan and Pavithra Gowda.
