Responding to the “Ramcharitmanas Potassium Cyanide” controversial remarks of the Bihar Education Minister Chandra Shekhar, BJP leader Sambit Patra on Friday said that the people will boycott them who have the audacity to call ‘Ram’ a venom.
Addressing the media, BJP leader Patra said, “All members of the INDI Alliance seem to harbor hostility towards Hinduism, a sentiment evident in their remarks. One individual has even gone as far as likening Ramcharitmanas to Potassium Cyanide.”

Bihar’s Education Minister, Chandra Shekhar, has once again sparked controversy by drawing a contentious comparison between Ramcharitmanas, a revered Hindu religious text, and potassium cyanide. Speaking at an event on Hindi Diwas (September 14), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader said, “If you serve 56 kinds of dishes and mix potassium cyanide into it, would you eat it? The same analogy applies to the scriptures of Hinduism.”
Potassium cyanide, a highly toxic substance, can cause a range of severe symptoms upon exposure, including headaches, confusion, dizziness, anxiety, heart palpitations, unconsciousness, and even death. It can also lead to nosebleeds, nasal sores, and alterations in blood cell count.
Chandra Shekhar went on to mention that several authors, such as Baba Nagarjun and Lohia, have also criticized these scriptures. He strongly voiced his disapproval of Ramcharitmanas, emphasizing that his stance on the matter would remain unchanged throughout his life. In doing so, he cited statements made by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on the same subject.
