“Every section has lost confidence in Biren Singh. He was silent for 7 days after May 3. He says that he came to know about the May 4 incident only when the video became viral. This government must go, Article 355 must be applied, consequently, President’s Rule should be imposed in Manipur,” ANI quoted Congress MP P. Chidambaram as saying.

On July 19, in a deeply disturbing incident from Manipur, two women were subjected to an appalling act of violence. They were reportedly paraded naked on a road by a group of men. The incident has rightfully sparked massive condemnation, with calls for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and dignity of all individuals.

On social media, this horrifying video is widely shared which caught the eye of the nation on Wednesday evening.

However, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday informed that two people including the main accused in the case was arrested by the police.

Addressing the media, Manipur CM said, “One was arrested yesterday and recently I got information that another one has also been arrested now. The interrogation is going on. The state police have arrested the suspected main culprit and those who involve have also been arrested and will be booked as per the law.”

“Suddenly one video clip become viral all over the nation. This was really shocking and today after seeing the viral video all the legislature of the ruling party condemns the heinous crime,” Singh added.

Manipur CM also reiterated that the state government will make all out efforts to get capital punishment for the accused.
