The lift fell straight to the basement, causing injuries to everyone on board. The injured were immediately called for an ambulance and admitted to a private hospital, where the condition of 5 people is critical. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and administration officials also rushed to the scene. An investigation into the incident is underway.
This is not the first case of a lift falling in Noida. In the past year alone, there have been around a dozen incidents of lift accidents in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. However, no strict action has been taken in any of these cases. In the Paras Tierra Housing Society in Sector 137, a lift collapse on August 3, 2023, resulted in the death of 70-year-old Sushila Devi. In February, a lift malfunction in a private hospital in Sector 110 left half a dozen employees injured. Additionally, there have been several other incidents of lift failures.
