Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti engaged in discussions with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. This meeting marks their first formal interaction since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Following the meeting, Mufti stressed the need for humanitarian action, particularly advocating for the release of individuals with minor charges ahead of the upcoming Eid celebrations.
"I told them that people of JK with less serious charges against them lodged in different jails should be released ahead of Eid," she said.

Mufti also presented a comprehensive proposal aimed at the return and rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits. The proposal outlines key provisions including land allotment, housing assistance, political representation, and necessary reforms to facilitate their reintegration into the Valley. "Kashmiri Pandits need to be empowered politically, and reservation needs to be ensured for them," she said, arguing that such measures are essential for fostering genuine integration.

Addressing the press after her meeting with LG Sinha, Mufti remarked on the historical context of Kashmiri Pandit exodus, stating, "It is time to remove the blot on Kashmir Muslims over the exodus of Pandits." She called for a joint effort to empower the community, asserting that their return cannot be realized without political support.
In addition to her focus on Kashmiri Pandits, Mufti discussed logistical arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra, advocating for local involvement to ensure a smooth pilgrimage process. "Locals have always assisted in ensuring the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage," she said.
Responding to questions about political dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti criticized former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of undermining the elected government. She pointed to instances such as the Waqf Bill discussion as indicative of this trend.
