Patna: A Patna court has directed Congress leader and former Lok Sabha MP to appear before it on April 25 in a defamation case filed over his alleged remark on Modi’s surname in an election rally in 2019.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP and Bihar’s former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi filed a defamation suit against Gandhi in MP/MLA court.
Earlier, a Surat court convicted and sentenced him to two years in prison in a criminal defamation case lodged in 2019 over his ‘Modi surname’ remark. However, the court granted bail to Rahul Gandhi and stayed the execution of the sentence for 30 days, so that Rahul Gandhi could challenge the verdict.
