Punjab: In a shocking incident that recently took place in Punjab’s Patiala district, a married couple allegedly died by suicide over a misunderstanding. According to reports, the couple had frequent disputes, which led to emotional distress and persistent conflicts. The tragedy unfolded after 42-year-old Gurmeet Singh ended his life on July 3. He was consumed by the belief that his wife, Manpreet Kaur, had eloped with their three children.
Little did he know that she had already died by suicide a few days ago. She is believed to have taken the extreme step, overwhelmed by their marital dispute. According to the Police, Manpreet left home on June 29, with their two daughters and a son after a heated argument. She drove the children to Gurdwara Jyoti Swarup, located in Fatehgarh Sahib. Shortly after, she asked them to proceed on the two-wheeler and told them she would follow them on foot. But, she didn’t do so.
On July 3, Police found Gurmeet hanging at his home, while Manpreet’s body was retrieved from the Bhakra canal 2 days ago. The tragic sequence of events over a misunderstanding had sent shockwaves across the community. Additionally, the heartbreaking double suicide in Pooniwal village has left the three children orphaned.
In yet another deeply disturbing incident that recently took place in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, a young couple was found dead in a forested area in Pirtand block. Police said that they might have ended their life after entering into a symbolic union. The authorities recovered a box of vermilion from the youth’s pocket, indicating that he might have put it on the girl’s forehead. Investigations are underway to find out the reason for the alleged suicide.
