Patanjali Ayurveda Limited is set to establish Asia’s largest orange processing plant at the ‘Patanjali Mega Food and Herbal Park’ in MIHAN, Nagpur. The announcement was made by the company’s Managing Director, Acharya Balkrishna, during a press conference in Nagpur. Expressing his reverence for Nagpur, Acharya Balkrishna mentioned that the city holds a significant place in India’s spiritual and revolutionary history. Further he emphasized that the newly established food processing plant will mark the beginning of an agricultural revolution, unlocking prosperity for farmers across the country.

Acharya Balkrishna highlighted that the plant will be the largest single-point food processing unit in Asia, a project that has faced multiple challenges, including delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the much-anticipated day has arrived for the region’s farmers, as the facility is set to be inaugurated on March 9 by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Transforming Vidarbha’s Agricultural Landscape
Addressing the persistent issue of farmer suicides in Vidarbha, Acharya Balkrishna expressed confidence that the new plant would contribute significantly to changing the region’s agricultural scenario. He called for collective support to ensure the success of this venture and pledged Patanjali’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of farmers and the overall agricultural sector.
The plant boasts an 800-ton daily processing capacity, accommodating A-grade, B-grade, and C-grade oranges, including pre-mature and storm-damaged produce. The facility operates on a zero-waste system, utilizing advanced technology to extract volatile and fragrance oils from orange peels. Given the scale of operations, the plant will not rely solely on juice production but will also focus on by-products, ensuring sustainability and efficiency.
Employment And Economic Growth
Acharya Balkrishna affirmed that Patanjali aims to provide employment opportunities to local workers and farmers, aligning with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of skill development programs to enhance manpower capabilities. He assured that the plant is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including automated packaging lines, Technopack machinery, and advanced research labs to ensure the highest quality standards. Apart from orange processing, the plant will also manufacture juices and pulps from lime, Amla, pomegranate, guava, grapes, bottle gourd, and carrot, along with onion and tomato paste. While the facility is designed for global exports, the primary focus remains on providing premium-quality products to Indian consumers.
With this initiative, Patanjali aims to revolutionize India’s food processing industry while uplifting the agrarian community, positioning Nagpur as a key hub for agricultural innovation.
