An Air India flight from Delhi to San Francisco was delayed for 24 hours on Thursday, causing some people to pass out while waiting in the non-air-conditioned plane, passengers said. Several people went to X to share their problems, and the photos they shared were used to present flyers waiting in the alleyway leading to the plane.
Reporter Shweta Punj said in X that the Air India flight was delayed by more than 8 hours and passengers were “crammed to board and sit without air conditioning” at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. When some people passed out, he said, passengers were asked to get off the plane.
In his message, he tagged Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and called the entire ordeal “inhuman”.

“If there is a failed privatization story, it is Air India. DGCA [aviation regulator] AI 183 flight was delayed for more than 8 hours. Passengers were forced to board the plane without air conditioning and then disembark, some people fainted. It is inhumane. during the flight,” tweeted Shweta Punj on Twitter.

In response to his message, Air India assured him of “necessary assistance to passengers”.
“We are truly sorry for the disruption. Please be assured that our team is actively working to resolve the delay and we appreciate your continued support and understanding. We are also alerting our team to provide the necessary assistance to passengers,” the airline responded.

Air India Flight Delay Sparks Fainting Concerns Amid Alleged Lack of AC, Passengers Claim
A social media user named Amadro also contacted X, claiming that his mother was stuck at the airport due to the delay and that passengers did not receive dinner or “any assistance”.

Another user, Abhishek Sharma, called on the airline to act quickly and asked them to let his parents and many other parents who missed the flight home go.
Air India responded to both with an apology for the “inconvenience” and “inconvenience” caused to passengers. The airlines also assured them of the help their ground crews needed.
This is not the first time that long delays have disrupted Air India flights and angered passengers. Earlier this month, people on an Air India flight from Mumbai to San Francisco had to sit in a poorly air-conditioned cabin for about six hours.
The latest incident comes amid a scorching heat wave in Delhi and other parts of northern India, with mercury levels hitting record highs.
