Indigo Flight Emergency Landing: A Mumbai-Ranchi bound Indigo Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Nagpur’s Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport after the health condition of a passenger onboard deteriorated. The passenger was rushed to hospital upon landing where he died, said officials.
A passenger named D Tiwari was traveling to Ranchi from Mumbai. It is reported that he started vomiting blood at 8 pm. Seeing his health deteriorating, the pilot made preparations for an emergency landing in Nagpur. The passenger was taken to the Government Hospital in Nagpur, where he reportedly died on arrival. The airline informed the incident in a statement.
Airlines said “ Due to a medical emergency, IndiGo flight 6E 5093 going from Mumbai to Ranchi was diverted to Nagpur. Following the emergency landing, the passenger was taken off the plane and rushed to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the life of the passenger could not be saved. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
The 62-year-old passenger was suffering from kidney ailment and tuberculosis, said Ejaz Shami, DGM of KIMS Hospital.
