Parliament Winter Session: The 6th session of the 18th Lok Sabha and the 269th session of the Rajya Sabha will commence on Monday (December 1) at 11 am. The Parliament’s winter session is ready to witness a wave of significant bills and debates between the ruling and opposition parties until December 19, 2025.
A total of 15 sittings are scheduled over 19 days. The government is planning to introduce a total of 13 Bills during the packed winter session. Among the significant bills likely to be tabled in the Lok Sabha today are the Health Security to National Security Cess Bill, 2025, and the Central Excise Amendment Bill, 2025.
The Opposition is expected to push the Central government on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue, security matters, and other unresolved concerns.
On Monday, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman, CP Radhakrishnan, stated that citizens look up to Parliament to steer the nation. Expressing gratitude to members who felicitated him for presiding over the House proceedings for the first time since his election as Chairman in September, Radhakrishnan remarked that in a democracy, anyone can rise from the humblest beginnings to occupy high positions in public life.
The Lok Sabha, the Lower House of Parliament, was adjourned for the day on Monday and will reconvene on Tuesday (December 2) at 11 AM. On the opening day of the winter session, the House witnessed repeated sloganeering, with the ruling party accusing Opposition MPs of disrupting proceedings. Between 11 AM and 2 PM, the Lok Sabha faced three adjournments, allowing for only about 50 minutes of actual legislative business.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi says, "The Congress party and the opposition parties are willing to cooperate with the government on all bills that this government wants to pass in this session. Our only request is that if we are cooperating on all bills brought by the government, allow us to raise certain issues and the government should also accommodate certain issues of the opposition in the agenda of discussion.
