New Delhi: Attributing to the various events of disorder and ruckus created by the very members of the Parliament in its ongoing Budget session, both Houses stand adjourned till 3rd April now. Today marked the 12th day of the second phase of the budget session of Parliament. Opposition MPs started creating a ruckus as soon as the day’s proceedings started in the Parliament. After this, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon while the Rajya Sabha till 2 pm.
In the face of this situation, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called for a meeting with the opposition parties. Before the proceedings began, Trinamool Congress MPs staged a sit-in in front of Ambedkar’s statue in Parliament, holding banners and posters of ‘Save Democracy, Federalism and Parliament’.
Due to uproar in both Houses, the proceedings could not be completed on Tuesday and today when the discussion began the opposition MPs reiterated the Adani and Rahul Gandhi issue. They did heavy sloganeering and some MPs even came in front of the speaker and showed black clothes. After this, the House was adjourned till 11 am.
Second phase marred by ruckus
The second phase of the budget session began on 13 March. In the last ten days, most of the proceedings of the Parliament have been marred by the ruckus. In the Lok Sabha as well as in the Rajya Sabha, the opposition MPs raised slogans regarding the issue of Rahul Gandhi’s suspension and demanded a JPC probe into the Adani case.
It has been observed that after the revocation of Rahul Gandhi’s membership, all opposition parties, especially Congress, have turned very aggressive towards the government. But BJP is adamant on its stand and is constantly demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi. Besides this, many parties are also attacking the government for the misuse of CBI-ED.
The deadlock continues in both Houses of Parliament. So far in the second phase of the budget session, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha could last only for 3 hours and 21 minutes and 30 seconds.
Parliament Budget Session: When and how long did the proceedings of the House last?
On March 13, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha could last only for 17 minutes. After this, it could run for 10 minutes on 14 March, 15 minutes on 15 March, only 3 minutes on 16 March, 21 minutes on 17 March, and 14 minutes on 18, 19 and 20 March.
On March 21, due to the uproar by the members of the opposition and the ruling party, the proceedings of the House could go on for only 30 minutes. On March 22, a day’s holiday was declared in the House following the proposal of various members.
On March 23, chaos over Rahul Gandhi’s membership issue led the proceedings of the House to go on only for 23 minutes and on March 24 for 45 minutes. Due to this, the House was once again adjourned till 11 am on March 27. After this, it could run for 10 minutes on March 27 and only six minutes on March 28.

Congress demonstrated a torch procession on Tuesday
Earlier, in the case of the cancellation of Rahul Gandhi’s membership, it was decided to take out the Mashal Yatra on Tuesday. As Congress leaders reached the Red Fort with a torchlight procession, the Delhi Police took leaders like P Chidambaram and Harish Rawat into custody. Reacting to this, Rawat said that this is a ‘murder of democracy’.
BJP parliamentary party meeting was held on Tuesday
Earlier on Tuesday, the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting was held on the Parliament premises. The meeting began with the BJP MPs congratulating PM Modi for a landslide victory in the recently concluded assembly elections in the North Eastern states. PM Modi was felicitated by party leaders for the party’s victory in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

According to sources, the Prime Minister said that the more the BJP continues to taste success, the more the attacks from the opposition will increase. He urged his party members to brace themselves for a tough battle! PM Modi’s comments come at a time when Parliament is deadlocked with the opposition demanding a JPC on the Adani-Hindenburg issue and the BJP demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi.
