Nearly 50 MPs suspended on Tuesday from Lok Sabha for protesting in the well of the house and showing placards over the security breach issue in Parliament, according to sources.
However, following the chaos in Parliament over the December 13 security breach, a historic suspension of 78 MPs occurred, marking the largest single-day expulsion in Indian parliamentary history. This added to the 13 members already removed earlier, totaling 92 suspended lawmakers for the ongoing Winter Session.

Of these, 33 Lok Sabha and 45 Rajya Sabha members faced suspension after the uproar demanding Union Minister Amit Shah’s statement on the security breach incident. Notably, 34 Rajya Sabha opposition MPs, including Congress figures Jairam Ramesh, KC Venugopal, and Randeep Singh Surjewala, were suspended for the entire session. Additionally, 11 others faced scrutiny by the Privileges Committee for alleged misconduct.
Their suspension will continue until the panel delivers its report. The opposition MPs’ removal was attributed to misconduct and disregard for the Chair’s directives.
Reports suggest that members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, who weren’t suspended, might opt to ‘boycott’ their respective Houses.
