Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Police informed that an eight-month pregnant woman was allegedly killed by the parents following she refused to falsify her testimony against her partner.
According to a senior police official, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her own parents. The tragic incident occurred as her parents reportedly wanted her to provide a statement in court claiming that her partner had raped her and she had become pregnant as a result.
“However, when she refused to make this statement, her parents allegedly took a drastic and horrifying step,” he said.

“The young woman's life was cut short before she could testify, as her parents allegedly strangled her on a Friday night. They then discarded her body in a river in the Goyla village,” as reported by NDTV.
“The motive behind this shocking act was the parents' desire for their daughter to give a testimony against her partner in court. However, when she refused to cooperate, it is said to have angered her parents to a tragic extent,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Suman.
The woman and her partner had reportedly eloped in October of the previous year. After their location was discovered, the man was arrested and placed in judicial custody. The parents had filed a complaint against him, accusing him of kidnapping and raping their daughter.

The woman was scheduled to record her statement in the case on a Saturday, but she did not appear. According to NDTV, this refusal seems to have triggered the tragic sequence of events.
The parents have now been charged under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to murder. They have reportedly confessed to the crime.
