Pakistani Teen Couple Caught After Illegally Crossing Border Into Kutch; Probe Underway

A Pakistani teenage couple, identified as Toto alias Tara Ranmal Bhil (16) and Meena alias Pooja Bhil (15), were detained by police in Gujarat's Kutch district after they illegally crossed the international border and reached Ratanpar village near Rapar.

In a shocking turn of events, the Gujarat Police arrested a teenage Pakistani couple in Gujarat’s Kutch district near the India-Pakistan border.

The couple was apprehended when they were found in dubious circumstances in the Ratanpur village of the Kharidar Bet area, which was 40 km inside the border. According to the police, the couple was interrogated, and ultimately confessed to coming into India by infiltrating from Pakistan.

The couple told police they fled from their families’ confinement and crossed the border overnight. The couple belongs to Islamkot village in Pakistan. The incident raised serious issues on security along the border for the couple to penetrate 40 km into the border without detection.

After they were detained, the security forces were notified and launched an investigation alongside police. The couple has purportedly no evidence of their Pakistani identity.

How were the couple discovered?

It is claimed that villagers noticed the couple in a suspicious condition in the forest of Ratanpar village in the Khadir Islands in the Vagad area of Kutch district. The village head was alerted and subsequently he contacted Khadir police. Police then arrived and detained them, and the couple was taken into custody.

The teenage boy is identified as Tara alias Toto Ranmal Churi Bhil (16) and the girl is Pooja Karsan Churi Bhil (15). The couple described them being in love with each other. The two ran away from the custody of their families and crossed over into India overnight. The police are investigating the matter and have informed the security agencies.
