At least 10 new born babies died and several suffered from injuries as fire breaks out at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Jhansi Medical College. The incident took place on Friday evening. According to officials there were 54 infants admitted to NICU ward.
Last night, there was such a scene at the hospital where crying mothers & doctors running away with newborns in their hands, someone’s dead body and someone’s half-burnt body.
A line of injured children was formed in the emergency ward. Those whose children survived, their parents were seen running to another hospital with them. Within an hour, the happiness of the birth of children turned into mourning.

Painful Reaction Of Family Member Of Newborn
According to media reports, the mother of a newborn child fainted after seeing the condition of the child. Her husband himself was courageously feeding him water. The child’s mother was repeatedly saying that show me the child’s face once. A woman fell unconscious after seeing the condition of her son. When the husband ran to pick him up, he also became distraught. He told the media that his son was not able to breathe, so he was kept on machines in the ward, but he did not know that he would get death and not life. The entire ward was burnt to ashes, no one knows where and in what condition the children are. Doctors, officers, police, no one tells anything.

Jhansi DM Avinash On The Incident
DM Avinash Kumar, who formed a committee to investigate the accident, told the media that 10 children have died. Some children are injured and the rest are safe. The victims will be briefed one by one. He stated that, the fire is reported to have been caused by a short circuit.

Jhansi CMS Sachin Mahor On The Incident
Jhansi Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) Sachin Mahor said that, “There were 54 babies admitted in the NICU ward. Suddenly a fire broke out inside Oxygen concentrator, efforts to douse the fire were done but since the room was highly oxygenated, fire spread quickly…many babies were rescued. 10 babies have died, injured babies are undergoing treatment”.
