Top LeT commander, Altaf Lalli, was killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in J&K’s Bandipora this morning. More details are awaited. Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Altaf Lalli was gunned down in Bandipora during the exchange of fire between the army and terrorists. Official sources also indicate that the two cops received bullet wounds. The injured policemen were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be stable. The high-stakes operation, which comes as a part of ongoing efforts to track down LeT terrorists believed to be involved in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead, mostly tourists.
Last night, the homes of two local terrorists, Adil Thokar and Asif Shaikh, were destroyed in an IED blast in Anantnag and Awantipora. Both men are linked to the deadly attack on April 22 in Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir, and are accused of helping Pakistani terrorists. Meanwhile, army officials stated that during a search of Asif Sheikh’s house in Moghama, a suspicious box was found with wires protruding from it. After confirmation by the Indian Army’s RR Engineers team, it was destroyed in situ, resulting in an explosion. The explosion partially damaged the house. No loss of life was reported, as the area was cleared and neighbouring houses were evacuated.
Two security personnel were injured in an exchange of fire between forces and terrorists in Kulnar, Bazipora area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday.
