Delhi: Opposition MPs, including Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, on Tuesday protested at the Makar Dwar of Parliament over the issue of SIR (Special Intensive Review) exercise in Bihar.
The Opposition members demonstrated their dissent by raising slogans and holding placards outside the Parliament building.

In an earlier report, the Election Commission informed the Supreme Court on Monday that the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls in Bihar is aimed at ensuring the purity of elections by weeding out ineligible voters from the rolls.
Bihar Vidhan Sabha Congress Leader Shakeel Ahmed critiqued that there has been a big question regarding migration, and the allegations that the votes of the Unprivileged are being Cut.
"There is a big question on migration, SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and the way votes of unprivileged are being cut, shows that there is no democracy in the present government... We will not let the Assembly work to show the government is bringing black law..." On Bhojpur encounter, he says, "The environment of hooliganism and weak law and order has been created. This is just eye wash..."

In yesterday’s parliamentary session, opposition parties strongly opposed the voter list review, labeling it a threat to democracy. Additionally, the parties submitted adjournment notices. Meanwhile, the Election Commission defended the revision process and filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court affirming its authority to verify citizenship details in the interest of electoral integrity.
To intercept the contention regarding the Special intensive Review Loksabha has been adjourned till 2 PM.
