New Delhi: After the successful completion of first day of the joint-Opposition meeting on July 17, the second round is set to begin today (July 18).

Leaders of major Opposition parties, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and Nationalist Congress party (NCP) founder Sharad Pawar will join the meeting. At least 26 parties in total have come along to fight Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024 General Elections due next year.

The meeting will be held in Karnataka’s Bengaluru and the state deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is the in-charge of all the arrangements for the meeting.

  • “This is a good, fruitful meeting. Constructive decision will be taken…Today what we discussed, the outcome after this may be good for the people of this country,” says West Bengal CM and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee

  • “The question is not who is going to be the PM. The issue is to come together for the common cause which is to save the idea of India and the Constitution,” says Priyank Kharge.

  • Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the grand-old party is not interested in power or the Prime Minister post. Kharge further said that the ruling party’s president and party leaders are “running from state to state” to patch up with old allies. “We are 26 parties, in government in 11 states; BJP didn’t get 303 seats by itself, used votes of allies then discarded them,” he said at the meeting.
